Following the popularity of the book Retrosuburbia, David Holmgren and colleague Beck Lowe transformed David’s celebrated presentation ‘Aussie Street’ (featured in the first chapter of Retrosuburbia), into a picture book with a message. Our Street charts four households in a fictitious street as they change and evolve through the decades. We see how different decisions lead to changes over the years, and it even steps into the future to show us how our actions today can set us up for a resilient life.
It's also the focus of this catchy song by permaculture band Formidable Vegetable, with a beautiful film clip showing the real-life Our Street kids living in Daylesford, Victoria. The clip was put together by the talented Ant Perucci and stars his two kids.
